'Victory in the Pacific' Commemorative Dinner

80 years ago on 15 August, 1945, Imperial Japan unconditionally surrendered ending the Second World War - the first global war in the history of mankind.  Germany had already surrendered on 7 May, 1945. During the war some 50 + million people, both military and civilians were either killed, wounded, taken prisoner or displaced. Many Australian sons and daughters of our veterans of the Great War - now found themselves defending not only the British Empire, but our homeland when it came under attack by Japanese Forces in February, 1942. Hear how Imperial Japan embarked on their seize and occupy campaigns across Indo-China, Asia and the Pacific during 1942– and the subsequent engagements and battles mounted by the allies - which led to their defeat and surrender.
