About the event
H3 Movie Night
There are few better ways to recount it than this movie, now in its 51st year since first release. Like its counterpart ‘Battle of Britain’ it was absolutely epic in scale and scope, but both suffered muted critical review. This is in large part due to the fact that they both sought to accurately portray personalities and events and did so at the expense of pathos and director-induced ‘atmosphere’.
Importantly, both have survived the test of time. In 1994, a survey at the USS Arizona Memorial in Honolulu determined that, for Americans, the film was the most common source of popular knowledge about the Pearl Harbour attack.
‘Tora Tora Tora’ reminds us of the trigger for one of the most monumental periods in our nation’s history. It was to get much worse, very quickly.
