About the event

From Scrap Iron to the 21st Century: 1941 and the origins of the Royal Australian Navy’s fighting culture.

With Guest Speaker, CMDR Alastair Cooper RAN

Naval history often focusses on the technical details and does not give enough attention to the sailors who fought their ships and campaigned alongside Army and Air Force counterparts. This year’s speaker, Commander Alastair Cooper, will provide a different perspective from the usual loss and tragedy narrative.

Dr Richard Davis is to present artefacts from HMAS Parramatta, associated with the Captain, LCDR Jefferson Walker MVO RAN, to the President of the Naval Military & Airforce Club of SA Inc. HMAS Parramatta (II) was lost while serving with the 'Tobruk Ferry', on 27 November 1941.
