2025 is the ninth iteration of this Club favourite.  It owes its origins to the fading recall of our Club, as to the origins of the ‘Curry Tiffin’ that had for so long featured on Club Menus.  

Rekindling the Club’s collective memory of that event, ‘Roger of the Raj’ is an eclectic blend of irreverent humour and the cultural fusion that took place across the Commonwealth Armies of the late 19th and early 20th Century because of a very significant Indian influence on soldiering, and military cuisine which has persisted to this day.  Given the origins of our Club, it was a ‘monte’ on several counts.

Not the least of which is the fact that it is named for a Monty Python parody of the Indian Army of Britain in the very early 20th Century, fronted by Michael Pallin as ‘Roger’.   This year it takes on a new dimension as it breaks out…
