About the event
2025 is the ninth iteration of this Club favourite. It owes its origins to the fading recall of a former Club favourite, the ‘Curry Tiffin’ a highly regarded feature on Club Menus for many years.
Rekindling the Club’s collective memory, ‘Roger of the Raj’ is an eclectic blend of humour and homage to the cultural fusion evident across the Commonwealth Armies of the late 19th and early 20th Century. Many Australians were seconded for service in the Indian Army. The influence on Commonwealth military tradition and cuisine of that era has persisted to this day.
This year ‘Roger of the Raj’ takes on a new dimension as it breaks out of Winter, lands in Spring and coincides with Dewali, the famed Indian ‘Festival of Light’.
This year we will, weather permitting, start in our superb Club garden, with welcome drinks, tantalising canapes and low level pyrotechnics, before heading inside.
