"Challenging the Challenges; How military service helped turn my life around"
Guest Speaker: Dr Glen Edwards
Glen Edwards suffered a turbulent childhood. After being diagnosed as dyslexic and failing Grade Seven, he left school and worked in various unskilled occupations. Glen entered the military first as a National Serviceman then extended his service. He served in Vietnam as a medical orderly with various units and a Field Hospital. On returning to Australia Glen was encouraged to leave the military and seek higher education. Still aged only 27, he enrolled and completed Leaving (Year Eleven) and Matriculation (Year Twelve) at several schools.
He went on to complete a Diploma of Applied Science, then a Bachelor of Arts and a Psychology Degree at Flinders University. While studying full time, he worked part-time at various jobs to support his wife and two young children. Following graduation…
