Guest Speaker: Lieutenant-Colonel Trent Harron
With the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024, Syria’s fourteen year long civil war ended. More than one year after the event, Syria is making progress as it transitions to a new governance model, though the situation remains fragile.
Lieutenant-Colonel Trent Harron is a serving member of the Australian Army who has recently returned from service with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in the Golan Heights. He will provide an overview of his experiences serving in Syria, and the region more broadly, over the past twelve months. He has prior operational service in Iraq and was the Officer Commanding 3/9 Light Horse (South Australian Mounted Rifles) from 2020-2021.
