About the event
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY 111 HUTT STREET!”
Colonel David Brook’s Club History, ‘The Club – Martial and Mufti’, tells us;
“The Adelaide Observer of 11 January 1873 records “Mr John Rounsevell, has just put up at the corner of Hutt and Angas Streets, a house of 20 rooms. The material is from the Glen Osmond and Mitcham quarries and the house, which is built in the best style, cost £1,750”.
Time and the elements have taken their toll.The Club is embarking on a program of Heritage Conservation Works, that will make good some sins of the past on the exterior of our Club Rooms. Best of all we will be contributing to the training and development of a new generation of Heritage Conservation Trades Apprentices.
Ms Trisch Baff, second generation proprietor of Flexible Construction Training Australia Pty Ltd, and Mr Matt Hogg, senior supervisor, licensed Building Work Contractor and UK qualified craftsman, will outline the traditional techniques that will be applied and some of the remediation required.
In addition we would like to show gratitude to all veterans who have served their country by hosting this luncheon at the Club.
