Battle of Trafalgar 2023

The Battle of Trafalgar Dinner is a significant formal dining-in-night on the Club calendar.

During the Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy proved itself to be the strongest naval force in the world, largely thanks to its unmatched effectiveness. The key to their dominance was not just the number of ships they possessed, as demonstrated in the Battle of Trafalgar, where a smaller fleet was able to defeat a larger, better-armed opponent. Instead, the British Navy's victory was due to the sailors' extensive training and experience and the integration of cutting-edge advancements in equipment and vessel design.

Commodore Grant McLennan, Director General of the Naval Construction Branch, will discuss the revolutionary shipbuilding techniques and technological upgrades implemented at the Osborne Naval Shipyard.
